Tasmania will open its 2025–2026 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program today, 6 October 2025, even though the Australian Government has not yet finalised state and territory nomination allocations.
Migration Tasmania confirmed that the new program year brings a series of updates aimed at improving clarity, efficiency, and program risk mitigation. The changes follow a review of previous outcomes and consultation with stakeholders.
Among the key updates are:
- A redesigned and easier-to-navigate website
- Clearer minimum eligibility requirements
- A new priority attribute system affecting candidate ranking
- Revised Registration of Interest (ROI) ranking system
- Adjusted income thresholds aligned with national wage benchmarks
- Simplified policy guidance and definitions
- Increased nomination application fee to $370 ($407 including GST), though submitting an ROI remains free
The Migration Tasmania Application Gateway is currently being updated and is expected to reopen for new ROIs by close of business 10 October 2025. Applicants who submitted an ROI in the past six months are advised to consider withdrawing and re-submitting, as the revised ranking criteria may enhance their selection prospects.
Migration Tasmania will host a webinar on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM AEST, covering nomination allocations, website changes, policy clarifications, Changes to the priority attributes and ranking system, and overseas candidate requirements. Interested participants may register through here.
