Bridging Visas (A, B, C and E) serve as a temporary solution for individuals awaiting a decision on their immigration status or a substantive visa application. These visas allow individuals to maintain lawful status in Australia, and certain Bridging Visas grant the right to work, provided financial hardship is demonstrated. Bridging Visas are crucial for ensuring that individuals do not become unlawful while their immigration matters are resolved. As each bridging visa has its own eligibility and condition standards, it’s crucial that you know which visa you are on or wishing to apply for.
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Have an application for a substantive visa that is being processed
- Have received a notice of an immigration decision that can be reviewed
- Compliance with visa conditions from previous visas
- Applying for a Bridging Visa with a request for work rights, demonstrating financial hardship if applicable
