South Australia has opened applications for 2,250 skilled migration places for 2025–2026, while updating rules on Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) to limit variation requests.
South Australia Now Accepting ROI Applications
Applications have opened for South Australia’s Skilled Migration Registration of Interest (ROI) as the state confirms 2,250 visa nomination places for the 2025–2026 program year.
State officials confirmed an allocation of:
- 1,350 places for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa
- 900 places for the Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa
People living and working in South Australia can now lodge an ROI to be considered for state nomination. Applicants must check eligibility rules for relevant streams before applying.
Offshore candidates do not need to lodge an ROI. They will be considered directly through SkillSelect based on their Expression of Interest (EOI).
Authorities urged applicants to review program requirements carefully and follow the official application process to avoid delays or ineligible submissions.
Changes to South Australia’s DAMA Variation Process
The Department of Home Affairs has changed how DAMA variations operate in South Australia.
The state can now support only one DAMA variation each year and will not accept variation requests during the first six months after a new agreement is executed.
Employers relying on DAMA pathways were advised to plan workforce needs early to avoid being affected by annual limits and timing restrictions.
