Australian Business Visas encourage entrepreneurs, investors, and business owners to contribute to Australia’s economy by establishing, managing, or investing in businesses. These visas offer pathways for individuals who bring innovation, capital, and skills, often leading to permanent residency. 

We support applicants in understanding requirements and navigating the application process to achieve their business goals in Australia.

The Business Innovation and Investment Visa is a temporary visa designed for individuals who want to own and manage a new or existing business in Australia or invest in an Australian state or territory. This visa has several streams, including:

  • Business Innovation Stream
  • Investor Stream
  • Significant Investor Stream
  • Entrepreneur Stream

It provides the opportunity for business owners and investors to establish their business in Australia and eventually transition to permanent residency through the Subclass 888 visa.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Nomination by an Australian state or territory government
  • Submit expression of interest (EOI) in SkillSelect
  • Age of 55 years or younger for the Business Innovation Stream (with certain exceptions)
  • Business turnover for the Business Innovation Stream must meet specified thresholds
  • Investment capital requirements for the Investor and Significant Investor Streams
  • Relevant business experience validated through a suitable skills assessment
  • Minimum English language proficiency requirements met
  • Required points scored on the points test for applicable streams
  • Health and character requirements met
  • Sign the Australian values statement
  • Have paid back your debt to the Australian Government
  • Not had a visa cancelled or an application refused

The Business Innovation and Investment Permanent Visa is the permanent visa that allows individuals who have already held the Subclass 188 visa to establish themselves as business owners or investors in Australia. This visa provides a pathway to permanent residency in recognition of the successful establishment of a business or investment in Australia. There are multiple visa streams for this visa, including: 

  • Business Innovation Stream: For individuals who have established a successful business in Australia
  • Investor Stream: For individuals who have made a designated investment in an Australian state or territory
  • Significant Investor Stream: For individuals who have invested at least AUD 5 million into complying investments in Australia
  • Entrepreneur Stream: For individuals who have engaged in entrepreneurial activities in Australia

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Holding a valid Subclass 188 visa, or either a Special Category Subclass 444 or Subclass 457 visa
  • Demonstrating ongoing operation of the business or investment in Australia
  • Evidence of meeting financial turnover or investment requirements applicable to the stream – minimum AUD300,000
  • Satisfactory character and health requirements for permanent residency
  • Minimum English language proficiency requirements met
  • Sign the Australian values statement
  • Have paid back your debt to the Australian Government
  • Not had a visa cancelled or an application refused
